NetPassage WPE54AG firmware recovery procedure. --------------------------------------------------- This procedure shows how to reload the firmware to WPE54AG should something goes wrong and the system could not startup properly. Should this happened, WPE54G automatically switch to loader mode. The WPE54G DIAG LED will light up and stays ON. See table 1 below. ON 3) Writing to flashrom succcessful Blinking very slowly ------------------------------------------------------------------------ How to recover WPE54AG from failed firmware ========================================== Before you start, after power ON router, check the DIAG LED status as described intable (1). Otherwise, WPE54AG isn't have this problem. If you experienced other problems please call technical support for help. 1) Power OFF and disconnect WPE54AG from the network. 2) Connect one end of a MDI (cross-connect for WPE54AG ) cable to the LAN/WAN port on the system then connect the other end to your computer LAN adapter. 4) Power ON WPE54AG then startup your computer. The computer will obtain an IP address, 192.168.168.100 from the WPE54AG. 5) Insert the WPE54AG recovery disk in the computer drive A or floppy disk. From the computer, click START | Run | type in this command, a:TFTP -i 192.168.168.1 PUT a:image_name.IMG (image_name.IMG is the firmware filename found in the WP11A+U O-SIN recovery disk. (e.g. a:TFTP 192.168.168.1 PUT a:WP54AG100.IMG ) If you have downloaded a newer firmware and have it put in local hard disk e.g. in C:\wpe54ag\wp54gxxxx.IMG, then replace A:\wp54g100.IMG with this new path and firmware name. When the firmware image file is successfully transferred from your computer to the router, the DIAG LED will display as described in table 1. 6) Firmware restoration is now completed. Reboot WPE54AG and it is ready to operate. ---------------------------------
